Me + Kevin Swan

I'm starting to get all amped up for the wedding season so I was looking through some old pics and found these.  Kevin Swan does amazing work - check him out!!  Love the look of the first pic here in black and white... totally classic.  Don't get me wrong I like the look of the trendy, hip, retro weddings going around these days, but for me, classic always wins.  Set your peeps on her sweet little ladies with the precious orchid wands (my fav for flower girls).

Today- getting coffee down and work done.  A wedding and three parties this week give me something to focus on.  Keep it up Spring.. you can do it!!! I support you in the abolition of winter!

Dreams..

I had dreams of blogging last night - funnier, wittier blogging than is typical of me.  Even so, decided I'd better get myself in gear and blog a bit.  Feeling a bit like death lately.... as many friends have said, I've caught the plague.  To overcome the gloom outside and the crud in my lungs I look to the picture of my backyard, above, and try to envision hyacinth, tulips and daffys blooming beneath my giant magnolia full of pink blossoms.  Mental games - always was good at them.

On another note- call in today for Valentine's Day.  Red roses are going fast!!!

Be Mine!

Nothing like the romantic combination of red roses and dark burgundy mini callas to get you in the Valentines mood. This table, by the Bloomington Country Club, has classic gold linens with an overflowing rose bowl.  Now in heat of it, keeping busy with ringing phones and arranging and arranging... more blogging for another day...

KRC

A few other beauties from the Bridal Show.  These are from the KRC table.  Home now with a wicked cough and a splitting head-ache.  Working hard on getting over the ugly so I can make beautiful designs for Valentine's Day.  It's going to be quite the week.  No doubt!!

By the way- thanks for all the on-line orders.  Keep 'em comin'.

Non weddingy stuff

I realize it's been a while since I've posted any centerpiece pictures.  Here are some to wet the pallet.  Don't forget to call soon to place your order for your holiday party.  That fluffy white stuff outside is gettin' me in the mood.  Ah yeah... don't forget about ordering a wreath while supplies last.  They are pretty darn fab if I do say so myself (pics to follow shortly).

The Streep... Revisited

Meryl lived up to her glory in her conversation with Jane Pauley at Indiana University Auditorium.  Watching the convo was ALMOST as cool as making these arrangements for the dinner that followed.

Here's the play by play...

Arrangement at the shop.. waiting in major anticipation

nervous in the van - can't believe it's ready to sit at the table with Meryl

Well... hello beautiful!

classic- chic

My wedding this past Saturday at the IU Auditorium.  What a beautiful color palate.  I just want to dive into all the golds, champagnes and taupe's - so classic and so perfect for the setting.  Garden roses, peonies, garden spray roses and a variety of eucalyptus.  Perfection... even if I do say so myself.

Mother's Day & Graduation

Don't forget your mommy or your grad this week. Pre-order today for the best selection. We'll be open 10-6 Tuesday through Friday, 10-2 on Saturday and for limited hours this Sunday from 10-1. We have specials running on dendrobium orchids, tulips and colored roses. Mom's love to feel loved and appreciated. Order an arrangement for pick up early on Sunday and serve it with brunch in bed (that's where I'd like to be Sunday morning).

Little 500

Little 500, or as we hoosiers call it Little Five is a bike race held every year here in B'town. The town gets crazy and it's a bit of a big deal. I myself have never attended the race, but I hear it needs to be on my agenda for next year. This year I was simply too busy to make it - with a bunch of parties around town, it's good for business (yeah!). Here are a few pics of red and white tulips (IU colors for you non-hoosiers out there) with racing flag ribbon around the vase. This event took place at IU's new venue the Hall of Champions. Such an honor to be asked to help.

O'Bannon

"The O'Bannon Institute is Ivy Tech Community College - Bloomington's annual signature event that brings focus to community service, service learning, and civic engagement"
~John Whikehart, Ivy Tech Chancelor via Ivy Tech website.

I am so honored to be involved in this event this year. Chocolate brown linens with wineberry napkins and sashes made Alumni Hall look amazing. To pair the color scheme with flowers we used purple anemones, purple lisianthus, purple and lavender freesia, "Black Bacarra" roses, "Cool Water" roses, hanging amaranthus, purple stock, purple larkspur, burgundy tulips, burgundy ranunculus accented with brazilia and fantail willow, which doubled as a table number pic. We also chose to use white glass vases to add a sophistication to the tablescape.

The Federal Room was dressed for a private reception for Laura Bush with similar colors, but with a little pink ranunculus to add some interest.
The top picture of the orange parrot tulips was placed at the Ivy Tech campus for the televised interview that will be playing on our local PBS station.
Thanks for the faith Ivy Tech! It was so awesome to work with these colors and have freedom with the design.

Tudor Room Royalty

I just love green and purple together. Surprisingly it never gets old for me. I actually had two events this week with the same colors. It fits so well into the Indiana Memorial Union Tudor Room with the regal deep purple (and yes, it's purple not blue). I have become really fond of the tight round arrangements. I think it really shows off the flowers and isn't masked up with too much fuss. In this wedding, green hydrangea, bells of Ireland, and purple and lavender lisianthus.

Bloomington Bridal Show

This years Bloomington Bridal Show was held on February 8th at the Bloomington Convention Center. Weeks before the event, I worked to decide on linens, color scheme and started purchasing decor for the table. Much like when planning any event, I had to take this one step at a time. I started like many of our clients, by looking through magazines for inspiration. With these pieces my good friend, Meredith constructed a beautiful inspiration board.

I had a great time at the Show and met brides looking for vendors, advice and ideas.
Thanks to our photographer friends, Shelia White http://www.shedesignsphoto.com/ and Eric Rudd http://ericruddphotography.com/ for taking such wonderful pictures of our table.
